Cookies & Tracking Policy

The cookies, pixels and similar technologies we use, what they do and how to control them.

About this policy

This policy explains how That Makeup Brand uses cookies and similar technologies on our website, and the choices you have. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal information more generally.

When you first visit, a banner asks whether you accept optional cookies. Essential cookies are set regardless because the site cannot work without them. You can change your choice at any time using the "Manage cookies" link in the footer of every page.

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website. Some are deleted when you close your browser (session cookies); others stay until they expire or you delete them (persistent cookies). Cookies set by us are "first-party" cookies; those set by our providers are "third-party" cookies. We also use related technologies such as pixels (tiny images or scripts that record that a page or email was opened), local storage (information kept in your browser, such as your bag) and SDKs in any mobile experience. In this policy we call all of these "cookies".

2. The cookies we use

Essential cookies. These are required for the site to function and cannot be switched off. They remember your bag, keep you signed in, protect against fraud and security threats, remember your cookie choice and allow checkout and payment to work. Our payment providers set cookies during checkout to protect your payment.

Performance and analytics cookies. With your consent, these help us understand how visitors use the site, which pages and products are popular, where visitors come from and where they run into problems. We use this information in aggregate to improve the site. We may use our platform's built-in analytics and third-party tools such as Google Analytics.

Functional cookies. These remember preferences such as your region, recently viewed products and whether you have dismissed a message, so that the site feels more personal. Some are essential to a feature you have chosen to use.

Advertising and social media cookies. With your consent, advertising platforms such as Meta (Facebook and Instagram), Google, TikTok and Pinterest may set cookies or pixels to measure the effectiveness of our advertising and show you relevant adverts on their platforms. Social sharing features may also set cookies when you use them. These platforms may combine information from our site with other information they hold about you, under their own privacy policies.

Email tracking. Our marketing emails may contain a pixel that tells us whether an email was opened and which links were clicked, so that we can measure campaigns and tailor what we send. You can prevent this by disabling images in your email client or by unsubscribing.

3. How long cookies last

Session cookies expire when you close your browser. Persistent cookies have lifetimes set by us or by the provider, typically between 24 hours and 13 months. Your cookie consent choice is stored for up to 12 months, after which we will ask again.

4. Managing your choices

  • On our site: use the cookie banner on your first visit, or the "Manage cookies" link in the footer, to accept or decline optional cookies at any time.
  • In your browser: most browsers let you block or delete cookies in their settings. If you block essential cookies, parts of the site, including the bag and checkout, may not work.
  • With advertising platforms: you can adjust ad preferences directly with Google, Meta, TikTok and Pinterest, and opt out of personalised advertising through industry tools such as youradchoices.com.au.
  • Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control: where your browser sends a recognised opt-out signal we treat it as a decline of optional cookies.

Declining optional cookies does not stop you seeing adverts; it means adverts will be less relevant to you and we will not be able to measure whether our campaigns reached you.

5. Third parties

Third-party cookies are governed by the policies of the providers who set them. We choose providers carefully and only share the information needed for them to perform their service, but we do not control how they use information collected under their own policies. Links to the policies of our main providers are available on request.

6. Changes

We may update this policy as the technologies and providers we use change. The date at the top shows when it was last revised. If we introduce cookies for a materially new purpose, we will ask for your consent again.

7. Contact

Questions about cookies and tracking can be sent to legal@thatmakeupbrand.com, marked "Privacy".
