Brand Ambassador, Influencer & Review Policy

Our standards for ambassadors, creators, affiliates and reviewers, including disclosure, honesty and content rights.

Last updated 3 November 2026

Who this policy is for

This policy applies to anyone who promotes, reviews or creates content about That Makeup Brand products, including brand ambassadors, influencers and creators, affiliates and referral partners, gifted recipients, and customers who leave reviews on our website or social media ("you"). It forms part of our Terms and Conditions and, for ambassadors and affiliates, of any written agreement we have with you. Where there is a conflict, the written agreement prevails.

We believe honest, clearly disclosed recommendations are good for everyone. These rules are designed to meet the Australian Consumer Law, the Australian Association of National Advertisers (AANA) codes and the ACCC's guidance on influencer marketing and online reviews.

1. Honesty

  • Only say what you genuinely think. Share your real experience with the product, including any limitations.
  • Do not make claims about results, ingredients or benefits beyond those we publish, and do not make medical or therapeutic claims (for example that a product treats acne, eczema or any condition). Our products are cosmetics; see our Product Liability & Medical Disclaimer.
  • Do not compare our products with competitors' products in a way that is misleading or disparaging.
  • Do not use filters, editing or staging that materially misrepresent how a product looks or performs on skin.

2. Disclosure

If you have received a product for free, at a discount, or any payment, commission, gift or other benefit from us, you must clearly and prominently disclose that relationship in every post, story, video, review or mention. Disclosures must be easy to see without clicking or expanding, placed before any "see more" cut-off, and spoken as well as written in video or audio. Use clear labels such as "Ad", "Paid partnership", "Gifted" or "Affiliate link". Hashtags buried among others, vague terms such as "sp" or "collab", or disclosures only in your bio are not sufficient.

Affiliate and referral partners must disclose that they may earn a commission on purchases made through their links or codes.

3. Reviews on our website

Reviews on our website must be written by a real person who has used the product. We publish genuine reviews, positive and negative, and we do not edit their substance; we may remove reviews that contain abusive language, personal information, unrelated content, medical claims, promotional material or anything that breaches our Acceptable Use Policy. We do not pay for reviews and we do not offer incentives in exchange for positive reviews. Where we invite reviews from customers who received a product free or as part of a program, the review is labelled accordingly. We do not permit reviews written by our employees, their families, competitors or anyone with a financial interest other than a disclosed affiliate.

4. Brand standards and content

  • Represent the brand respectfully. Do not associate our products with content that is discriminatory, sexually explicit, defamatory, violent, political, unlawful or likely to bring the brand into disrepute.
  • Use our product names, logos and imagery only as provided by us and without alteration; do not create your own packaging, logos or "collaborations" without written approval.
  • Do not run your own competitions, giveaways or discounts involving our products without our written approval.
  • Do not resell gifted products or products purchased with an ambassador discount.
  • Follow the terms of each platform you use and keep your account in good standing.

5. Rights in your content

You keep ownership of the content you create. By tagging us, using a campaign hashtag, submitting content to us or posting a review, you grant That Makeup Brand a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual licence to use, reproduce, edit, adapt, publish and display that content on our website, social channels, advertising, emails and other marketing, with attribution where practical. You confirm that you own the content, that everyone featured in it has consented, and that it does not infringe anyone else's rights. You can ask us to stop using a specific piece of content by contacting collaborations@thatmakeupbrand.com; we will stop future use within a reasonable time but may not be able to recall materials already printed or published.

6. Independence

Ambassadors, creators and affiliates are independent contractors. Nothing in this policy creates an employment, partnership, agency or joint-venture relationship, and you may not make commitments on our behalf. You are responsible for your own taxes and for complying with the laws that apply to you.

7. Commissions and gifted products

Where we offer commissions, the rate, tracking method, cookie window, payment schedule and minimum payout are set out in your affiliate dashboard or agreement. Commissions are earned only on completed orders that are not cancelled, refunded or returned, are not paid on your own purchases or on orders placed with codes used contrary to their terms, and may be withheld where we reasonably suspect fraud or a breach of this policy. Gifted products are provided for the purpose of creating content and are not a payment for a positive review.

8. Confidentiality

Unreleased products, launch dates, pricing, campaign briefs and any other non-public information we share with you are confidential and must not be disclosed until we release them publicly or give you written permission.

9. Breaches

If you breach this policy we may ask you to amend or remove content, withhold commissions, remove you from a program, cancel orders placed with your codes and, where appropriate, take legal action. You are responsible for any loss we suffer as a result of a breach, including the cost of responding to a regulator or complaint arising from your content.

10. Contact

Partnership enquiries can be sent to collaborations@thatmakeupbrand.com or through the "Collaborations & partnerships" option on our Contact page; media and press requests to media@thatmakeupbrand.com. Questions about this policy itself can be sent to legal@thatmakeupbrand.com.
